We would like to think we are the friendliest fencing club in England, we certainly go out of our way to make all new members and beginners welcome.

We started, years ago, as a Modern Pentathlon club with meetings in Shaftesbury, Salisbury and Warminster, and still support several young ‘pentathletes’. We are, now, primarily an epee fencing club with c. 15-20 members attending on any one night, travelling from Wiltshire, Hampshire, Dorset and Somerset.

We meet twice a week at Warminster Sports Centre: Mondays 18.00hrs – 20.00hrs and Wednesdays 19.00hrs – 22.00hrs.

We believe, fencing has many life long benefits:

  • creative problem solving - as each new opponent presents a challenge
  • achieve healthy body - as physical exercise is an important part of a healthy and balanced lifestyle
  • develops mental fortitude - fondly referred to as “physical chess”, fencing is also a contest of mental agility that involves the mind, body and spirit of the player
  • social platform to express yourself - fencing is for everyone, any age regardless whether you are a recreational fencer or interested in world-class training and competition
  • team work - While fencing is an individual sport, growth only happens in a team environment. Unus pro omnibus, omnes pro uno!
  • character building - the intensity of a fencing competition builds character like no other sport

We are a member of the British Fencing Association, Pentathalon GB, and the Wiltshire Fencing Union; our members compete at County, Regional and National levels, several of our veterans have represented their country.

We have two qualified coaches. We have full Public Liability Insurance.

All members are encouraged to become members of “British Fencing” (see “Links” page) to take advantage of their insurance scheme.
